Online Safety

Online Safety is an important part of keeping children safe at Hawksworth CE Primary School . We have extensive security measures in place in school, which are monitored both internally and externally, to help safeguard pupils from potential dangers or unsuitable material. Any Online Safety incidents are recorded and managed.  Online Safety is taught to all pupils explaining and demonstrating how to stay safe and behave appropriately online.

We can only be successful in keeping children safe online if we work with parents to ensure the Online Safety message is consistent. It is important that parents speak to their children about how they can keep safe and behave appropriately online.

Ethos

It is the duty of the school to ensure that every child and young person in its care is safe. Within our computing curriculum we promote the 4Cs classification that recognises that online risks arise when a child is:

  1. Content: Being exposed to harmful content online
  2. Contact: Harmful interaction online
  3. Conduct: Personal online conduct that causes or increases the likelihood of harm
  4. Commerce: Risks such as gambling, phishing, or scams

All staff have a responsibility to support E-safe practices.

This expectation also applies to any voluntary, statutory and community organisations that make use of the school’s ICT/ Computing facilities and digital technologies. Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils is embedded into the culture of the school and its everyday practice and procedures.
